Privacy Policy

This policy explains what information Austin, Texas Treat Map & Surrounding Areas! collects, how it is used, and the choices you have. The short version: we collect only what is needed to run the map, we never sell or share your information with third parties, and you can delete everything yourself at any time.

Information we collect

Account details — your email address, a password (stored only as a secure hash), and an optional display name.
Social sign-in — if you choose to sign in with Google or Facebook, we receive your email address, name, and an account identifier from that provider. We do not receive your password or post on your behalf.
Listing details — the address and map position you choose, what you are offering, dates and times, notes, and any photo you upload. This information is public by design: it is shown on the map to anyone who visits the site.
Technical information — our server keeps standard, short-lived logs (such as IP address and requested page) for security and troubleshooting, and temporarily counts sign-in attempts to prevent abuse.

Analytics

We use cookieless, privacy-friendly analytics to understand overall site usage (for example, how many people viewed the map). This does not use cookies, does not store IP addresses, does not track you across other websites, and does not identify you personally.

Cookies

We use a single, strictly necessary session cookie to keep you signed in. Your light/dark theme preference is stored in your browser's local storage. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.

How we use your information

To display your listing on the map.
To send account emails you request or need: email confirmation and password resets. We do not send marketing email.
To keep the Service secure and prevent abuse.

Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties. The only exceptions are your public listing (visible to all visitors), the email provider we use to deliver account messages, and where required by law.

The map and address lookup use OpenStreetMap services. When you load map tiles or search for an address, your browser contacts those services directly, subject to their own privacy policies.

Retention

Your account and listings are kept until you delete them. Email confirmation and password-reset links expire automatically. Temporary upload data is removed within an hour.

Your choices and rights

You can edit your email, name, password, and listings from your account page at any time.
You can hide or delete a listing at any time.
You can delete your entire account, including all listings and photos, from your account page. Deletion is immediate and permanent.

Children

The Service is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.

Security

Passwords are stored using strong one-way hashing. Connections are encrypted where the site is served over HTTPS. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a unique password.

Changes

We may update this policy as the Service evolves. The date at the top shows when it was last changed.
